Active (Digital. Marketing. Communications) adds video game developer and publisher Blizzard Entertainment, a division of Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI), to its growing list of gaming and electronic entertainment industry clients.

Active DMC’s scope includes public relations, events and influencer management around World of Warcraft®, Hearthstone®, Overwatch®, the Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® franchises, and the multi-franchise Heroes of the Storm®. After a rigorous selection process, Active DMC demonstrated an understanding of the industry, an original and relevant approach to delivering on the key objectives of the brief as well as the in-house knowledge of the gaming sector in key markets that is necessary for the client.

“Active DMC was appointed by Blizzard Entertainment in September to deliver on their Middle East strategy in the market. It's an exciting opportunity as the gaming industry in the Middle East and North Africa region is set to triple in size to US$4.4 billion by 2022.”, said Sawsan Ghanem, Joint Managing Director at Active (Digital. Marketing. Communications).

“While the Arab region accounts for only 3.6% of the $108.9 billion worldwide games market, the Middle East is showing the highest growth rate globally. Blizzard Entertainment is a fantastic client to have in our portfolio, and one that we are already adding value to.” added Sawsan Ghanem. “The Middle East is seeing a growth in global gaming events and tournaments, further illustrating that the region is a lucrative and enthusiastic adopter of esports and gaming currently seeing a 25% year on year growth rate.”

Active DMC’s track record in the technology communications industry, with 18 years focused on clients in the electronic entertainment sector, has seen them expand into almost every relevant sector where technology is at the heart of the narrative and gaming is right in their “sweet spot”.
